Terms of Service

By accessing or using Yapd (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you are using Yapd on behalf of an organization or another person, you represent that you have the authority to bind that party to these terms.

We may amend these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change is your acceptance of the change.

Yapd lets you upload a WhatsApp chat export (.txt or .zip) and receive an anonymized, swipeable recap of patterns and moments in the chat. Premium features (“Encore”) provide a deeper, long-form AI analysis of the same export. Your chat messages are processed in your browser for the free wrap and are handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher) to use Yapd. By using Yapd, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

• You retain all rights to the chat data you upload. By uploading it, you grant Yapd a temporary, limited license to process it for the sole purpose of generating your wrap or Encore.
• WhatsApp exports contain messages from other people. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload them. As a good rule of thumb: only wrap chats where you are a participant and where you would be comfortable sharing the anonymized statistical output. Do not upload chats containing sensitive, illegal, or third-party-confidential information without appropriate consent.
• Saved wraps are end-to-end encrypted on your device before upload, and the encryption key is derived from your passphrase and/or your device biometrics and is never transmitted to us. Because access is designed to remain solely with you, you are responsible for retaining your passphrase. If your passphrase and all enrolled devices are lost, Yapd is unable to recover or reset access to the affected wraps. This is a deliberate security property of end-to-end encryption and does not constitute a service defect or a basis for liability.
• If you choose to enable a Public Link for a saved wrap, your browser creates a separate, shareable copy of that wrap so anyone with the unique URL can view it without signing in. This is a deliberate, per-wrap action you take, with on-screen confirmation. You alone are responsible for whom you share that link with. Crucially, even when public sharing is enabled, your raw WhatsApp chat history is never uploaded or saved in plaintext on the database—the public copy contains only your high-level visual recap stats and AI reports. Turning the link off (or letting it expire) removes the shared copy and revokes access.

You agree not to use Yapd to:

• Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.
• Upload content you do not have the right to process.
• Upload material that contains illegal sexual content, threats, or material that infringes intellectual property.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, automate against, or otherwise abuse the Service.
• Circumvent the free-tier usage limits, for example by churning through multiple devices, accounts, or VPN endpoints to exceed your quota.
• Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our infrastructure, or interfere with another user’s experience.
• Resell, repackage, or commercially redistribute Yapd output.

We may suspend or terminate access for any violation of this section, at our reasonable discretion.

The free wrap does not require an account. Saving wraps to your library, buying credits, and unlocking Encore require sign-in with Google OAuth. You are responsible for the security of your Google account. We may suspend or terminate your account if we detect abuse, fraud, or a serious violation of these terms.

• Yapd uses a credit system. One credit creates one wrap. Encore costs 3 credits per saved wrap. Every new device starts with a fixed number of free starter credits. The current value is shown on the homepage and the Credits page.
• Additional credits can be purchased in packs from the Credits page. Prices are shown in INR or USD based on your location. All prices include applicable taxes.
• Payments are processed by Razorpay’s hosted checkout, which supports UPI, NetBanking, wallets, Indian and international cards, and PayPal. Yapd does not store card numbers, UPI IDs, or banking details.
• Credits never expire. We reserve the right to change pricing at any time. Existing credits already in your wallet are not affected by future price changes.

All purchases are final and non-refundable. Credits and Encore unlocks are digital goods delivered instantly to your account; once the transaction is processed, the purchase cannot be reversed, partially refunded, or exchanged.

Two narrow exceptions exist, neither of which require you to contact us:

• Failed delivery: if a wrap or Encore fails on our side and is not delivered to your library, the credit consumed is returned to your wallet automatically. This is not a refund, it is a re-credit so you can try again.
• Duplicate charges from your bank: if your bank or wallet provider double-charges you for a single purchase, contact support@yapd.in with both transaction IDs and we will reverse the duplicate charge.

Try the free starter credits before purchasing a credit pack so you know exactly what Yapd produces. By completing a purchase, you confirm you have read this policy and waive any right to cooling-off or chargeback for buyer’s remorse.

Chargebacks: filing a chargeback without first contacting us may result in immediate account suspension, forfeiture of any remaining credit balance, and the loss of access to saved wraps and Encore reports until the dispute is resolved.

Encore reports and the AI dossier slides are generated by a large language model from anonymized statistics about your chat. AI output is, by nature, probabilistic. We do not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness for any particular purpose. The output is meant to be entertaining commentary, not psychological assessment, legal advice, medical advice, or forensic analysis. Treat it accordingly.

The AI runs on a third-party provider (Anthropic) which operates under its own terms and security commitments, including SOC 2 and ISO certifications and a no-training policy for data sent via its API. See our Privacy Policy for specifics and links to the provider’s policies.

Yapd is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, specific uptime levels, or that any feature will remain available indefinitely. We may add, change, or remove features with reasonable notice where feasible.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Yapd, its operators, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid Yapd in the 12 months immediately preceding the claim, or (b) ten US dollars.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example, liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence).

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Yapd, its operators, and agents from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third-party right, including the rights of the other participants in chats you upload.

The Yapd name, logo, product, software, and all original content are owned by us. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. Wraps and Encore outputs derived from chats you upload are yours to keep, screenshot, and share. You may not use the Yapd brand or logos in a way that suggests endorsement without our written permission.

You may stop using Yapd at any time. You may request account deletion by emailing privacy@yapd.in. We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these terms, suspected fraud, or to comply with the law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (payments, limitation of liability, indemnity, governing law) will survive.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. You and Yapd agree to attempt to resolve any dispute informally first by writing to support@yapd.in. Any unresolved dispute shall be brought exclusively in the competent courts located in India.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, form the entire agreement between you and Yapd regarding the Service.
